Free Themed Exhibition Tours to Take Place at Pera Museum in September

Pera Museum will open two free thematic exhibition tours in September, linking the history of coffee and ceramics with the commercial worlds of ancient civilizations.

The first tour, titled “Coffee, Inspiration and Innovation,” will begin at 6 p.m. and focus on the “Extraordinary Minas” exhibition. It will examine how coffee’s growing presence in Ottoman daily life influenced changes in ceramic and tile production in Kütahya.

Among the tour’s highlights will be a series of plates by Minas Avramidis depicting “The Story of Genovefa.” The tour will also explore the relationship between novels and stone-print works from the period.

The second tour, “Gods, Symbols and Measures,” will begin at 6:45 p.m. as part of the “The Art of Weights and Measures” exhibition. It will look at Egypt, Mesopotamia, ancient Greece and Rome through objects used for weighing, bringing Anatolia’s 4,000-year trading history together with mythological symbols.
