French automakers launch new hybrid SUVs in Taiwan: Peugeot 3008 targets sporty driving, Citroen C5 Aircross emphasizes comfort

French automakers Peugeot and Citroen are introducing their latest hybrid SUVs, the 3008 and C5 Aircross, to the Taiwanese market. Both vehicles utilize the Stellantis STLA Medium platform and a new 1.2-liter P2 Hybrid powertrain. This system allows for short-distance electric-only driving below 30 km/h and can switch to pure electric mode during cruising or coasting, balancing performance with fuel efficiency. The hybrid system has been refined for smoother transitions between power sources.

The Peugeot 3008, described as a "fastback sport utility coupe," features a dynamic exterior and a driver-focused interior with a panoramic i-Cockpit. Its chassis provides responsive handling, enhanced by a small-diameter steering wheel and ergonomic sport seats, offering a driving experience that deviates from typical SUVs. The interior boasts a 21-inch curved screen for a high-tech feel and supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

In contrast, the Citroen C5 Aircross prioritizes passenger comfort. It incorporates Citroen's signature PHC (Progressive Hydraulic Cushions) suspension system to absorb road imperfections and Advanced Comfort seats for a plush ride. This focus on a smooth and stable driving experience aligns with its positioning as a family-oriented SUV. The C5 Aircross also offers substantial cargo space, with a 651-liter boot that can expand to 1,985 liters when the rear seats are folded.

To attract buyers, the Taiwanese distributors for Peugeot and Citroen are offering August promotions. These include a 5-year/150,000-kilometer manufacturer's extended warranty for all models. Additionally, select models come with low monthly payment plans, upgraded insurance coverage, or accessory packages, such as an integrated rearview mirror with a dashcam or premium window tinting.
