French-German Alliance Forms Joint Venture for Moroccan Railway Maintenance

A new joint venture, "Vossloh Futrifer Services Maroc," has been established in Casablanca by a French-German alliance to provide comprehensive railway maintenance services across Morocco. The consortium, comprising Vossloh Services France and Futrifer, officially began operations on July 1st.

The company will focus on critical maintenance tasks, including welding, grinding, and the upkeep of switches for both the national rail network managed by the National Office of Railways (ONCF) and the urban rail systems in Casablanca and Rabat. Initial operations will leverage the expertise of experienced teams from Vossloh Services France and Futrifer, who have collaborated in France since 2024.

Looking ahead, the joint venture plans to recruit and train Moroccan personnel starting in 2027. This initiative aligns with Morocco's ambitious "Railway Plan 2040," which envisions the development of up to 1,300 kilometers of high-speed rail lines.

Vossloh's broader maintenance portfolio includes techniques like High Speed Grinding, designed for the preventive treatment of surface defects on rails, capable of operating at speeds up to 80 kilometers per hour. While the company has outlined the scope of services, specific details regarding the first maintenance contract, the exact sections of track to be worked on, or the precise machinery to be deployed in Morocco have not yet been disclosed.
