Frente Amplio begins internal discussions on improving party-government coordination

Uruguay's Frente Amplio (FA) coalition is undertaking internal discussions to enhance the synergy between the party and the current government. Fernando Pereira, the FA's president, highlighted the need for continuous coordination to forge a clear and understandable strategy for the public.

Pereira stressed the importance of visibly supporting and promoting the commitments made by the party and the government. He also called for increased mobilization around specific projects and achievements. To foster this connection, he advocated for strengthening grassroots committees, engaging in territorial activism, re-establishing contact with party members, and increasing political presence in social participation spaces.

The initiative "El FA Te Escucha" (The FA Listens), which has already been implemented in 14 departments, was praised for its role in connecting with society, managing media relations, and revitalizing departmental branches. Pereira proposed that Montevideo and Canelones organize similar events, emphasizing a broad approach for Montevideo that includes visiting social organizations and all base committees to ensure active engagement.

Internally, the FA believes that "El FA Te Escucha" was instrumental in their electoral victory in 2024. The party also announced an agreement to update its Protocol on Gender-Based Violence, pending ratification in July. Additionally, a proposal from interior bases regarding plans and programs to support families of children and adolescents in poverty, along with monitoring mechanisms, will be addressed.
