Friday brings instability across Croatia: Parts of Croatia face heavy showers, while elsewhere temperatures reach 37 degrees

Croatia is bracing for unstable weather on Friday, with the national meteorological service issuing yellow warnings for large parts of the country. The forecast predicts changeable and unstable conditions, including rain and localized, more intense thunderstorms accompanied by lightning. There is a possibility of severe storms in some regions.

Temperatures are expected to drop compared to previous days across most of Croatia. However, eastern Croatia and the far south will continue to experience heat, with temperatures potentially reaching up to 37 degrees Celsius. The State Hydrometeorological Institute (DHMZ) has issued warnings for heatwaves in the far south, noting their potential adverse effects on health.

In eastern Croatia, Friday will see partly sunny skies with afternoon showers, mainly in the west. Overnight temperatures will remain above 20 degrees Celsius, while daytime highs will range from 33 to 37 degrees Celsius, with moderate south and southwest winds. Central Croatia will experience variable cloudiness with scattered rain and possible heavier downpours, accompanied by strong southwesterly winds. Morning temperatures will be around 20 degrees, with daytime highs exceeding 30 degrees Celsius.

The western part of the country is expected to be the most unstable, with the highest chance of showers, some potentially heavy, and isolated storms. Coastal areas will experience moderate to strong southerly and southwesterly winds, leading to choppy seas. Daytime temperatures will range from 27 to 29 degrees Celsius, dropping to around 24 degrees in Gorski Kotar due to increased cloud cover and rain. Dalmatia will see a mix of sunny and cloudy periods, with showers possible overnight and in the afternoon inland. Winds will be moderate to strong southerly, with temperatures between 30 and 33 degrees Celsius. The far south will remain mostly sunny and hot, with daytime highs around 32 degrees Celsius.
