From Ace to Worry: Can Struggling Allgood Stop Surging KT Wiz?

Adam Allgood, who dominated the first half of the KBO season as the league's premier pitcher, is now a source of significant worry for the KIA Tigers. His performance has sharply declined in the second half, creating a dilemma for the team as they prepare to face the in-form KT Wiz.

Allgood is scheduled to start against KT Wiz at the Gwangju Kia Champions Field on August 4th. Earlier in the season, he posted an impressive 9-5 record with a 2.36 ERA in 16 games, leading the league in both categories and outperforming previous ace Nick Nelson. His dominance was a key factor in the Tigers' success.

KIA had given Allgood a break in late June, removing him from the roster to prepare him for the second half. However, the rest appears to have had an adverse effect. In his first start back on July 16th against SSG Landers, he lasted only 4⅓ innings, giving up 3 runs and taking the loss. He followed this with another loss on July 22nd against the Hanwha Eagles, allowing 4 runs in 5 innings. His struggles have left the team questioning his ability to perform at his previous elite level.
