From Nightclub to Nuptials: Saviola and Amato Celebrate 20 Years of Love

Javier "El Conejito" Saviola, a celebrated Argentine footballer who shone during the 2006 World Cup, shares a heartwarming love story with his wife, Romanela Amato. The couple, who met in 2006, marked their enduring bond by celebrating a special wedding in 2024, nearly two decades after their romance began. They have since built a family, raising two children, Julieta and Fabricio, and have made their home in Andorra.

Their love story began in mid-2006 when Saviola, then playing for Real Madrid and preparing for the World Cup in Germany, first encountered Romanela at a nightclub in Puerto Madero. Although their initial meeting was brief, they maintained contact. Saviola, who has since recounted his persistence in pursuing Romanela, initiated further contact. Romanela, describing herself as extremely shy in their early days, recalled how Saviola had to make considerable effort to win her over, often reminding her of how difficult it was to get her to open up.

As their relationship grew stronger, Romanela began traveling frequently to Spain in 2007 to be with Saviola. That same year, they made their relationship public, appearing together at the traditional Conde de Godó tennis tournament, thus introducing their romance to the media.

In 2024, after 18 years together, Javier and Romanela formalized their commitment with a wedding ceremony in Victoria, Entre Ríos. The intimate event was attended by family, friends, and several figures from Argentine football.
