From university podcast to TV screens: How VILNIUS TECH graduate Liepa launched her career while studying

Liepa, a graduate of VILNIUS TECH's Entertainment Production program, found her path to a career in the media industry while still a student. She always knew a traditional office job wasn't for her, envisioning her future in the entertainment world.

From the first year, I told everyone that I was exactly where I should be. After four years, I can only confirm to myself – these studies were truly the best choice for me.

Her university experience went beyond lectures. From her first year, Liepa actively participated in campus life, singing at events and seeking opportunities to explore new areas. She believed in experiencing the full spectrum of university life, not just attending classes. This proactive approach led her to discover the VILNIUS TECH Creative Industries Faculty's podcast, "Atlantų balkonas."

This podcast, featuring interviews with professionals and alumni from creative fields, became a pivotal point in Liepa's journey. Initially invited as a guest, she was soon offered the role of co-host. Despite initial nervousness, she embraced the challenge, which she describes as a significant leap out of her comfort zone.

From childhood, I saw my future in the entertainment world. I considered studying music abroad, but eventually chose the Entertainment Production program in Lithuania at VILNIUS TECH University's Faculty of Creative Industries. I made the decision very easily.

Hosting "Atlantų balkonas" provided Liepa with invaluable skills in conversation management, understanding interviewees, and utilizing psychology and body language to elicit deeper responses. She also learned to create a comfortable environment for guests on camera. Liepa emphasizes that such faculty-led projects offer students real-world experience and professional development opportunities during their studies.

I always wanted to experience real university life, the people here, not just 'get through' classes and rush home. There are so many opportunities hidden at the university that many simply miss.

Her experience on the podcast not only honed her media skills but also significantly increased her visibility. Liepa feels her VILNIUS TECH education was the ideal choice, providing her with the necessary foundation and practical experience to launch her career in the dynamic entertainment industry.
