FRVS Warns of "Absolute Illegality" in Chile's Megareform, Demands Dialogue

Chile's Regionalist Green Social Federation (FRVS) party has voiced strong opposition to a sweeping government reform, warning of "absolute illegality" in its implementation. The party submitted a letter to President Gabriel Boric demanding a halt to the reform and calling for a "national dialogue" to address their concerns.

Former Minister of Agriculture Esteban Valenzuela, now vice president of FRVS, presented the letter at the presidential palace. He highlighted specific objections, including the proposed municipal compensation formulas related to property tax exemptions for seniors and criticism of a program targeting rural women.

"If President Boric does not contribute with a national dialogue in the coming days, we are going to face a very serious situation," Valenzuela stated, emphasizing the urgency of the matter. The FRVS argues that the reform, as currently proposed, overlooks significant problems and risks alienating key segments of the population.

The party's stance adds to growing criticism from various municipalities regarding the reform's impact on local finances and social programs. The FRVS insists on a more inclusive and transparent process, seeking to ensure that the reform benefits all Chileans without creating new inequities.
