The Fubon Guardians secured a crucial 3-1 victory over the Taiwan Steel Eagles on Friday, snapping a losing streak and climbing out of the bottom position in the second half of the Chinese Professional Baseball League season. This win contrasts sharply with the fortunes of the CTBC Brothers, who dropped to last place after a 1-4 loss to the Wei Chuan Dragons on the same day.

Fubon's offense was spearheaded by Kong Nien-en, who delivered key hits throughout the game. Pitcher Magic Blue also played a pivotal role, allowing just one run over seven innings. The Guardians took an early lead in the third inning when Kong Nien-en singled and stole second, allowing Lin Tse-pin to drive him in with a hit. This marked the end of a 17-inning scoreless streak for pitcher Huang Tzu-peng against Fubon.

In the fifth inning, Kong Nien-en struck again, hitting a double with two outs to bring in another run for Fubon, his third hit of the game. The Eagles managed to score a single run in the sixth inning after a walk and consecutive hits, but Magic Blue struck out the next batter to quell the rally. Fubon extended their lead in the bottom of the sixth, capitalizing on a throwing error to score another run.

Both teams saw effective relief pitching in the later innings. Fubon's closer Tseng Chun-yueh closed out the game in the ninth, securing the win. The victory provides a much-needed boost for the Guardians, while the Brothers face mounting pressure as they occupy the cellar of the league standings.
