Fuel prices increased in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka has announced a significant increase in fuel prices across the board, with new rates taking effect from midnight on May 30, 2026. The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) confirmed the price hikes for diesel and petrol, impacting consumers across the island nation.

The price adjustments include a Rs. 15 increase for a liter of Lanka white diesel, bringing its new price to Rs. 407. Lanka super diesel will see a Rs. 20 hike, reaching Rs. 478 per liter. For petrol, the price of Octane 92 has been raised by Rs. 24 to Rs. 434 per liter, while Octane 95 petrol will cost Rs. 25 more, setting its new price at Rs. 495 per liter.

In addition to diesel and petrol, the price of kerosene has also been increased by Rs. 20, with the new price set at Rs. 285 per liter. These adjustments are expected to have a ripple effect on transportation costs and the prices of various goods and services throughout Sri Lanka.

The announcement was made by the CPC late on the night of May 30, indicating the immediate implementation of the new pricing structure. This move comes amid ongoing economic challenges faced by the country, which often necessitate such measures to manage fiscal balances and ensure the availability of essential commodities.
