Fuerza del Pueblo designates José David Báez Reinoso as spokesperson

The Fuerza del Pueblo party has selected José David Báez Reinoso to serve as the new spokesperson for its bloc in the Chamber of Deputies. Additionally, Eduardo Espiritusanto has been confirmed as the party's representative in the Senate for the 2026-2027 legislative term. The decisions were made by consensus during a meeting on Monday at the Casa del Pueblo Johnny Ventura.

In the Chamber of Deputies, Báez Reinoso will be supported by Mélido Mercedes Castillo, deputy for San Juan, as vice spokesperson, and Rafaela González González, deputy for Santo Domingo province, as secretary. The Fuerza del Pueblo has opted to maintain the current leadership in the Senate, with Espiritusanto, senator for La Romana, continuing as spokesperson, Félix Bautista (San Juan) as vice spokesperson, and Omar Fernández (National District) as secretary.

Upon assuming his new role, José David Báez expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and acknowledged the work of the outgoing leadership. He emphasized that his unanimous selection reflects the unity within the opposition bloc and stated that the new leadership will work collaboratively to strengthen their presence in Congress. Báez aims to transform the Fuerza del Pueblo deputies into a "fighting machine" to garner citizen support and achieve their goal of winning the executive branch in the 2028 elections.

Senator Eduardo Espiritusanto thanked his colleagues for retaining him as the head of the Senate bloc, vowing to continue a firm opposition to the governing party. He stated that the legislators' work should be oriented towards helping Fuerza del Pueblo secure the National Palace in 2028.

Franklin Rodríguez, secretary of Legislative Affairs for Fuerza del Pueblo, led the selection process, highlighting the atmosphere of unity and consensus. He also recognized the contributions of the outgoing leadership in both the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.
