Fujairah Martial Arts Club Signs Declaration Supporting Women’s Empowerment in Sport

Fujairah Martial Arts Club has joined more than 700 international organizations committed to advancing women and girls in sport by signing the Brighton Plus Helsinki Declaration.

The signing took place at the club’s headquarters during the month-long celebration of Emirati Women’s Day 2026. The ceremony brought together representatives from the British Embassy in the UAE, the International Working Group on Women and Sport, the media, the club’s female athletes and female leaders.

The club said the declaration would guide sustainable policies and programs focused on equality, participation and women’s progress into leadership and sporting excellence. Its plans include anti-discrimination policies, equal training opportunities, prayer spaces, family facilities and safeguarding procedures.

The club also outlined development pathways from schools to club membership through cooperation with the Ministry of Education and its Future Generations program. For elite athletes, it plans to provide technical training, medical care and data- and artificial intelligence-based monitoring of performance and injuries.

Women currently make up 28% of the club’s membership. Fujairah Martial Arts Club has set a target of increasing female participation to 35% by 2028.
