Fujimori begins Peru government transition with technical team appointment

Keiko Fujimori, Peru's president-elect, has initiated the government transition process, appointing economist Marco Vinelli to lead the effort. Vinelli previously headed her campaign's government plan.

Fujimori stated the transition aims to address the country's problems and enable swift decision-making upon taking office. She announced that her second vice president, Miguel Torres, will co-lead the transition office with Vinelli. "We are going to organize the transition team so that when we take office, we know where to act first, how to respond quickly and responsibly," Fujimori said.

The president-elect emphasized the need for a thorough technical assessment of the incoming administration's resources and challenges, ministry by ministry. "Peru does not start every five years; we will identify all good practices and projects that have yielded results to continue," she explained, vowing to build on successes and correct failures.

Fujimori, daughter of former president Alberto Fujimori, also stressed the importance of restoring order in streets, institutions, and the state. She promised an "open, digital, and close" government to ensure transparency, reduce bureaucracy, and be present where needed. "We make ourselves available to Peruvians from day one, with humility and a deep sense of service," she stated, promising an era of results and trust in institutions.
