Fulham sign striker Gonzalo Garcia from Real Madrid

Premier League club Fulham has secured the signing of promising Spanish striker Gonzalo Garcia from Real Madrid. The transfer, reportedly valued at around 40 million euros ($46 million), sees the 22-year-old forward make the move to West London.

Garcia enjoyed his most productive season with Madrid last term, netting eight goals, including six in La Liga. His impressive tally featured a hat-trick against Real Betis in January. At Fulham, he will reunite with former coach Alvaro Arbeloa, who was appointed head coach earlier this summer after previously working within Madrid’s youth system.

Fulham has signed Garcia to a contract running until 2031, with an option to extend the deal by an additional year. Real Madrid is understood to have retained a 30% sell-on clause for the player. The club also added another young Spanish talent, 21-year-old attacking midfielder Cesar Palacios, who also broke into the Real first team under Arbeloa.

This influx of young Spanish talent comes as Real Madrid undergoes a squad overhaul following two consecutive seasons without major trophies. The club has appointed veteran Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho to replace Arbeloa.
