FULL LIST: Nigeria’s 10 Commonwealth Games medalists so far

Team Nigeria is making a strong showing at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, currently holding 10 medals, comprising six gold and four silver. This impressive tally places Nigeria among the top-performing African nations at the event.

The country's weightlifters delivered a dominant performance on Monday, securing three additional gold medals and significantly boosting Nigeria's medal count. Edidiong Umoafia clinched the men's 71kg event with a combined lift of 319kg. Onome Didih secured the women's 53kg title with a Commonwealth Games record total of 203kg, and Rafiatu Lawal successfully defended her title in the women's 58kg event.

These victories add to earlier successes in Para Powerlifting, where athletes like Esther Nworgu, Folashade Oluwafemiayo, and Riluwan Idris have already secured gold medals. Silver medals have also been won in Para Powerlifting by Roland Ezuruike, Esther Oyema, and Rita Ferdinand, along with Ruth Asuquo Nyong in the women's 48kg weightlifting event.

While the National Sports Commission initially reported Nigeria in fourth place on the overall medal table, subsequent checks indicated a slight drop to fifth place as Scotland advanced. Despite this fluctuation, Team Nigeria remains a formidable presence at the Games, with competitions in athletics, boxing, wrestling, and further weightlifting events still to come.
