Füllkrug Scores on Werder Bremen Return in DFB-Pokal

Striker Niclas Füllkrug marked his return to Werder Bremen with a goal in their DFB-Pokal first-round match against Lüneburger SK Hansa. The veteran forward, who rejoined the club on a one-year loan from West Ham United, expressed his delight at being back with the team and its supporters.

"Played badly, scored a goal. That's actually good for a striker," Füllkrug told Sky after the match. "But the best experience today is seeing the Werder fans again, being there for them. I missed them a lot."

Werder Bremen secured a 3-2 victory in the cup tie. Jens Stage opened the scoring for Bremen in the 11th minute, and Ludovit Reis sealed the win with the final goal in the 76th minute. Despite a spirited effort from Lüneburger SK Hansa, who featured four Hamburger SV fans in their starting lineup, they were ultimately outmatched.

Füllkrug, who previously rose to prominence with Bremen, becoming a national team player and the Bundesliga's top scorer, was part of a trio of new signings in the starting eleven, alongside goalkeeper Alexander Schlager and Reis.
