Funeral arrangements of Oscar-winner Fricker announced

The funeral service for Oscar-winning Irish actress Brenda Fricker will take place on Thursday at 11 a.m. in St Catherine's Church on Meath Street in Dublin. Her family announced the arrangements, stating that the service will be followed by a private burial.

She made history in 1990 as the first Irish actress to win an Oscar, receiving the Best Supporting Actress award. Earlier this year, Dublin City Council announced she would be awarded the Freedom of Dublin in recognition of her contributions to Irish arts and culture. Before her acting career, Fricker worked in the art department at The Irish Times and made her screen debut in the 1960s, becoming a familiar face on Irish television before achieving international recognition.
