Funeral for Ras Ajai set for September 26

The funeral service for Jamaican singer and actor Ras Ajai will take place on Sept. 26 at Boulevard Baptist Church in St Andrew, his management announced.

Ras Ajai, whose real name was Brian Todd Boucher, was killed in Waterford, St Catherine, on Aug. 1, shortly after arriving in Jamaica from the United States. Another man was shot and injured in the incident, which occurred in the Third World section of the Portmore community. No arrests have been made.

A member of Sean Paul’s Dutty Rock Productions, Ras Ajai made his acting debut in the 2024 film “Bob Marley: One Love.” He played Claudius Massop, the West Kingston enforcer and close friend of Marley. He also recorded and toured with Sean Paul and was known for songs including “Well Misbehave” and “Vice Grip.”

She added that his estate included more music and material, but the team did not want to rush its release because of his death.

Ras Ajai also appeared on Sean Paul’s 2019 single “Buss A Bubble,” from the album “Live N Livin,” which received a 2022 Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album.
