The fabricated story alleged that Akindele had a public emotional breakdown during an Instagram Live session upon hearing the news.

The viral post, attributed to an X user, included a manipulated video of Akindele crying, presented as a recent reaction. It claimed the director was on his way to her house when the accident occurred and suggested the incident might cause a delay in the movie's release. Akindele responded directly to the post, stating, "Your words shall return to you in Jesus name. You are looking for engagements Abi? God will give you!!!"

This incident highlights the ongoing issue of misleading celebrity videos being shared on social media. Akindele's movie, 'The Four: No One Fights Alone,' is scheduled for a December 11, 2026 cinema release. The film, which centers on friendship, motherhood, resilience, and the strength of women, features an ensemble cast including Akindele herself, Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Richard Mofe-Damijo, and others.
