Gabriel Jesus completes Barcelona registration on transfer deadline day

Gabriel Jesus completed his move to Barcelona on the final day of the transfer window, giving the club the No. 9 it had identified as a priority after the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres.

Barcelona officially announced the Brazilian forward on Tuesday morning and registered him in LaLiga later that day. He signed for three seasons, through June 20, 2029, after joining from Arsenal for about 10 million euros plus variables.

The Catalan club also registered goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic, who arrived from Turkish side Fenerbahce on a contract running until 2030, and 20-year-old midfielder Brian Fariñas, one of the standout players during preseason.

Barcelona had initially targeted Julián Álvarez for the position, but it could not negotiate the Argentine's transfer with Atlético Madrid. The club instead turned to Jesus, an experienced attacker whose European career has included spells with Manchester City and Arsenal.

Jesus scored 95 goals in 236 matches for City between 2017 and 2022, then added 32 in 123 games for Arsenal. His time in London was affected by a serious left-knee injury suffered in January 2025. After recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament, he played 27 matches last season and scored six goals.
