Guadalajara, under the guidance of Argentine coach Gabriel Milito, clinched a dramatic 1-0 victory against Juárez FC on Saturday, thanks to a goal scored in the final moments of the match. The win came during the second jornada of the Mexican Apertura football season, with the decisive goal netted by Mexican World Cup player Roberto Alvarado.

The first half was largely a one-sided affair, with Guadalajara controlling possession and probing the Juárez defense, which was set up in a five-back formation. Despite creating chances through wing plays by Roberto Alvarado and Bryan González, Guadalajara's attempts to find Armando González in the box were unsuccessful. Juárez had a clear opportunity on a counter-attack when Panamanian player José Rodríguez's lobbed shot went wide of an unprotected goal.
