Gabriel 'Místico' Pereyra Leaves Tepatitlán After Winning Two Titles, Joins Correcaminos

Club Correcaminos has announced the hiring of Argentine coach Gabriel Ernesto "Místico" Pereyra as their new technical director. Pereyra arrives in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, on the heels of a highly successful season with Tepatitlán FC, where he secured both the Clausura 2026 championship and the Campeón de Campeones title in the Liga de Expansión MX.

Armando Arce Serna, president of Club Correcaminos, stated that Pereyra's appointment is part of a broader institutional restructuring and strengthening effort by the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas. The club is seeking a coach with proven national and international experience, leadership qualities, and a track record of results. "We are convinced that his work and vision will be fundamental to forming a competitive squad committed to the objectives of our institution and our fans," Arce Serna said.

Pereyra, 48, brings a wealth of experience from his playing and coaching careers across Mexico, South America, and Central America. In Mexico, he previously managed clubs such as Atlante, Cafetaleros de Chiapas, Cimarrones de Sonora, and Atlético Morelia. His international coaching experience includes leading Deportivo Malacateco in Guatemala and SD Aucas in Ecuador.

As a player, Pereyra, nicknamed 'Místico,' had a notable career, playing for River Plate, Cruz Azul, Atlante, Morelia, and Puebla. His accolades include league championships with River Plate in Argentina and a historic Liga MX title with Atlante in the Apertura 2007, along with the CONCACAF Champions League in the 2008-2009 season. His arrival at Correcaminos signals a significant ambition for the club.
