Galați Police Officer Caught Speeding in Service Car

A police officer from a rural station in Galați County, Romania, has been caught by traffic police driving a Ministry of Internal Affairs service vehicle at a speed exceeding the legal limit within the city.

The incident took place on May 31, 2026, as part of an operation conducted by the Road Traffic Bureau to identify and penalize drivers who disregard speed regulations. During this control, officers stopped a patrol car belonging to Rural Police Station 1, Galați, which was traveling through the municipality at a speed higher than permitted for that section of the road.

Preliminary checks revealed that the officers in the stopped vehicle had previously responded to an emergency call in the locality of Frumușița. They were en route back to their station to finalize procedural documentation related to that intervention when they were detected speeding. The vehicle was identified as belonging to the Secția 1 Poliție Rurală Galați.

In response, the leadership of the Galați County Police Inspectorate has ordered an internal investigation to establish all circumstances surrounding the event and to clarify the actions of the personnel involved. Legal and administrative measures will be determined based on the investigation's conclusions.
