Gangwon Province Aims to Host International Youth Basketball Tournament

Hoengseong County in Gangwon Province is setting its sights on attracting international youth basketball competitions. The 'NH Nonghyup Bank 2026 Hoengseong Hanu Cup National Youth Basketball Tournament' commenced on August 29th, transforming the region into a vibrant hub for young basketball talent.

The tournament, which includes age groups from U8 to U15, is a collaborative effort. It is jointly organized and hosted by Hoengseong County, the Hoengseong County Sports Council, the Hoengseong County Basketball Association, the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Basketball Association, and KXO. This multi-party cooperation underscores the ambition to elevate youth basketball within the province.

Kim Cheol-hoe, the president of the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Basketball Association, expressed his aspirations for the county to become a significant venue for international youth basketball events. The successful staging of this national tournament is seen as a crucial step toward achieving that goal, promising a dynamic future for the sport in the region.
