'Garo Sero Institute' head Kim Se-eui appears in court; Kim Soo-hyun case takes major turn

Kim Se-eui, the representative of the YouTube channel 'Garo Sero Institute,' has reappeared in court, seeking a review of his detention. Kim is currently detained on charges of spreading false information related to actor Kim Soo-hyun and the late actress Kim Sae-ron.

Appearing before the Seoul Central District Court, Kim's hands were bound by restraints as he entered the courtroom. He remained silent to media inquiries, his expression serious. This marks his latest appearance in the ongoing legal battle following his detention.

Prosecutors allege that Kim used his YouTube channel to repeatedly claim that Kim Soo-hyun was in a relationship with Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor. He also allegedly accused the late actress's death of being related to debt pressure. Furthermore, Kim is accused of using AI technology to create fabricated audio files, purportedly of Kim Sae-ron, to disseminate false content and damage Kim Soo-hyun's reputation.

During a previous hearing for the review of his detention, Kim had strongly denied the accusations, stating that the basic facts of the allegations were not even clear. However, the court ultimately approved his detention, citing risks of evidence tampering and flight.
