Taiwanese Artists Sweep Top Awards at Japan's KADOKAWA Manga Contest

Taiwanese comic artists have earned top honors at the prestigious KADOKAWA WORLD MANGA CONTEST in Japan, showcasing the nation's burgeoning creative talent on the global stage. The artists secured a gold, a bronze, and a merit award in the highly competitive "silent manga" category, underscoring their narrative and artistic prowess. Eli Lin clinched the gold award for "Cells Within the Body," praised by judges for its exceptional storytelling and mastery of visual communication, embodying the essence of silent manga. MurJi received the bronze award for "Hitokuji," while JASONZ earned a merit award for "JOHNNY B. GOOD IS GONNA BE GOOD." The contest, organized by the Japanese publishing giant KADOKAWA, attracted 1,959 entries from 118 countries and regions this year, with expanded categories including dialogue-based manga in multiple languages. The awards not only provide significant prize money, with the gold winner receiving $10,000 USD, but also offer crucial editorial support and opportunities for commercial serialization and publication in Japan.
