Gasperini admits Roma could not afford Greenwood and Summerville transfers

Gian Piero Gasperini thought Champions League money had solved Roma's financial problems. The transfer window showed him otherwise.

Gasperini said Roma had come close to agreements with some players but had to withdraw because of salary restrictions. “There were players who wanted to come to Roma, but we had to give up on them because of restrictions related to wages,” he said.

He specifically named Greenwood and Summerville, saying Roma had pursued both attacking players but could not complete the deals within its financial limits. Greenwood has since moved to Fenerbahçe, according to the description.
