Gavi Says No Suspensions Needed for Argentinians After World Cup Final Incidents

Spanish World Cup champion Gavi has dismissed the significance of incidents that occurred after Spain's victory over Argentina in the 2026 World Cup final. He argued that the players involved in the scuffles should not face suspensions, describing such moments as simply "part of football that is a little more violent." Following the final whistle, Argentinian player Leandro Paredes reportedly pushed Eric García, and Gavi himself was also pushed by the Boca Juniors player. Despite these events, the FC Barcelona player told reporters that he does not believe he should be suspended. Gavi acknowledged that the incident was not a good image for children but reiterated his view that "that part of football that is a little more violent, and that's it: everything is football, it has to be like this." Gavi and fellow player Fabián Ruiz Peña were honored in their hometown for their World Cup success.
