Gaza: 13 killed in Israeli airstrikes after Hamas ceasefire agreement

Thirteen people died in a series of Israeli airstrikes that hit residential areas in the Gaza Strip around midnight, according to Gaza's Civil Defense Authority. Palestinian health officials confirmed that Israeli fighter jets carried out separate attacks across the territory, including in Gaza City, Deir al-Balah, and Khan Younis.

The Civil Defense, operating under Hamas administration, stated that eight people perished in the midnight strikes that destroyed several apartment buildings. Five more individuals were killed in subsequent daytime attacks. In one incident in central Gaza, a couple died and others were injured when an Israeli military helicopter fired on an apartment unit, a civil defense spokesperson said.

Near dawn, a couple and their nine-year-old son were killed when their home in Mawasi, Khan Younis, was bombed from the air. Gaza authorities had previously reported that Israeli attacks on Saturday also damaged medical supplies at a hospital, a day after Hamas agreed to the latest phase of a plan to end the war.

The Al-Shifa Hospital confirmed receiving two bodies from an attack on its roof. The Israeli military claimed the strikes targeted Hamas weapons depots. These new attacks followed Hamas's announcement on Friday of its agreement to the latest phase of a plan, reportedly involving the surrender of weapons and the phased withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.
