Gbajabiamila Appears Before ICPC Panel Probing Fake Agency

Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to Nigeria's President, has appeared before the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to address inquiries into the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). Gbajabiamila's counsel, Jiti Ogunye, confirmed that his client appeared before the probe panel in Abuja on Monday at 3 p.m., fully cooperating with the investigation as directed by the President.

According to Ogunye's statement, Gbajabiamila provided his testimony and responded to all questions posed by the ICPC panel. The investigation centers on the activities of the purported PFIPC, with Gbajabiamila's cooperation aimed at clarifying his role and the agency's legitimacy. He has since returned to his official duties.

In full cooperation with the ICPC acting as directed by the President of Nigeria, I hereby confirm that my client, Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, responded to the invitation of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and appeared at about 15:00hrs on Monday, July 20, 2026, as part of the ongoing investigation into the activities of the ‘PFIPC’ fake agency, among others.

This appearance comes amidst a separate legal battle initiated by Gbajabiamila. Last week, he filed a N15 billion defamation lawsuit against Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja. The suit stems from allegations made by Matthew at a press conference, claiming Gbajabiamila demanded a 48 percent kickback from a N27.3 billion take-off grant approved for a federal agency.

In his lawsuit, Gbajabiamila seeks N10 billion in general damages, N5 billion in aggravated damages, and N200 million for the cost of the action. He also demands a public retraction and apology from Matthew, to be published across national newspapers and social media platforms for 30 days. Gbajabiamila, represented by Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, has vehemently denied the allegations, describing them as false, malicious, and defamatory, asserting he never met or communicated with Matthew regarding such matters.
