GCC Secretary-General Condemns Settler Attack on Mosque in Tulkarm

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Albudaiwi, strongly condemned an attack by settlers who burned a mosque in the Tulkarm Governorate and defaced its walls with racist slogans. He described the act as a treacherous targeting of places of worship and Islamic holy sites, constituting a flagrant violation of international law and humanitarian law.

Albudaiwi underscored that this crime is part of a series of ongoing violations against Palestinians and their holy sites. He held the Israeli occupation forces fully responsible for the attack and similar repeated assaults, attributing them to policies that protect and ignore settler violence, thereby encouraging impunity and a lack of accountability.

This heinous crime comes within the context of an ongoing series of violations and attacks targeting the Palestinian people and their holy sites.

He stressed that targeting places of worship violates their sanctity and transgresses human values and international conventions. Albudaiwi called on the international community, the Security Council, and human rights organizations to fulfill their responsibilities by urgently halting these violations, holding perpetrators accountable, and providing international protection for Palestinians and their holy sites.

The GCC reiterated its support for the Palestinian people and the establishment of an independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
