Geoje apartment buried by landslide; one in cardiac arrest, two injured

A landslide in Geoje, South Korea, buried the first floor of an apartment building early on the 17th, leaving one person in cardiac arrest and two others injured. The incident occurred amid heavy rainfall that prompted a Level 1 alert from the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.

The landslide struck an apartment in Okpo-dong, Geoje, at approximately 4:32 AM. The heavy downpour caused the earth to slide, engulfing the building's first floor. Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the location.

Simultaneously, another landslide occurred in Gyonri-ri, Sanyang-eup, Tongyeong, at around 5:05 AM, where one person was trapped and injured. Fire authorities have mobilized a significant force, including 170 firefighters and 62 pieces of equipment, to manage the rescue and support operations. So far, they have received 78 rescue requests.
