George and Amal Clooney Evacuate French Home Amid Wildfire Threat

Hollywood actor George Clooney and his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, have evacuated their French estate near Brignoles as a fast-moving wildfire erupted nearby. Authorities confirmed the couple's departure as a precautionary measure, though they were not mandated to leave.

France has been grappling with some of its most severe forest fires in recent memory over the past week. The largest blaze has scorched over 103,000 acres in the country's southwest, an area exceeding the size of Detroit. The Clooneys' property, Domaine du Canadel, located near Brignoles, was threatened by a fire that began Wednesday evening.

They also conveyed hopes for the safety of their neighbors and committed to aiding the community's rebuilding efforts. The Brignoles blaze has consumed 321 acres and prompted the evacuation of over 600 people. While most residents were permitted to return home on Thursday, 270 firefighters remained on the scene, supported by water-bombing helicopters. Four firefighters sustained injuries.
