German businesses alarmed after AfD victory: “A clear signal to everyone”

Germany’s small and medium-sized businesses have sounded the alarm after the Alternative for Germany, or AfD, secured a convincing victory in state parliamentary elections.

The Mittelstand, widely regarded as the backbone of Europe’s largest economy, expressed concern over the result and its broader signal for the country.

The business sector urged the federal government to finally carry out the reforms it has promised, saying they are needed to help revive economic growth.
