German government ends business mission program for Brazilian companies

Germany has officially notified Brazil that it will be ending a program designed to foster business ties between the two nations. The "Partnering in Business with Germany" initiative, a collaboration between Brazil's Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services (MDIC) and Germany's Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, provided Brazilian companies with valuable training, business missions, and international networking opportunities within the European country.

The German government cited "budgetary restrictions" as the reason for discontinuing the program. They stated that rising public spending has outpaced revenue, necessitating a reallocation of resources for more efficient use. The partnership, which commenced in November 2025, is set to conclude on December 31, 2026, just over a year from now.

Despite the program's termination, a second business mission planned for October 5-22 will still take place. This mission includes individual and group meetings with German companies, training sessions, and a visit to the Motek 2026 trade fair. Germany assured Brazil that all previously agreed-upon activities would be honored.

To date, only one business mission has been completed, in April of this year, which involved the participation of a Brazilian delegation at the Hannover Messe 2026 trade fair. The Brazilian government, through the MDIC, has not yet provided a statement regarding the program's end.
