German Player Lennart Karl Out of World Cup with Injury

Germany's World Cup hopes have been dealt a blow with the news that rising star Lennart Karl will be sidelined due to injury. The national team player suffered a muscle bundle tear in his left thigh during the final training session on Saturday, just before a friendly match against co-host USA in Chicago.

The German Football Association (DFB) confirmed the diagnosis after Karl was examined at a hospital. The injury rules him out of the upcoming tournament, a significant loss for the team. Coach Julian Nagelsmann reacted swiftly to the news, calling up Assan Ouédraogo from RB Leipzig to replace Karl in the 26-player squad.

Ouédraogo, 20, made his senior international debut in November, scoring a goal in a 6-0 victory during World Cup qualifying. He is expected to join the team at their World Cup base in Winston-Salem in the coming days.
