German poll: FDP re-enters Bundestag, AfD maintains lead

Recent polling data from Insa, conducted for Bild am Sonntag, indicates a shift in the German political landscape, with the Free Democratic Party (FDP) achieving a significant milestone by re-entering the Bundestag in hypothetical elections. The liberal party has seen its support rise by one percentage point, reaching the crucial 5% threshold required for parliamentary representation after a 1.5-year absence.

Despite the FDP's gain, the Alternative for Germany (AfD) maintains its leading position in the polls, holding steady at 28% support. The conservative CDU/CSU alliance follows with 21%, while the Green Party garners 14%. The Social Democratic Party (SPD) is at 12%, and The Left party (Die Linke) holds 11%.

The Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW), a relatively new political entity, remains at 4%, indicating it has not yet crossed the electoral threshold to secure seats in the Bundestag. The poll, which surveyed 1201 eligible voters between July 27 and 31, suggests a dynamic but largely stable distribution of support among the major parties, with the exception of the FDP's notable return.
