German President Steinmeier to Visit Jakarta to Bolster Ties

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is set to visit Jakarta on June 15 for a one-day trip aimed at deepening the bilateral relationship between Germany and Indonesia. The visit underscores Germany's dedication to fostering a robust, dependable, and enduring partnership with Indonesia, as stated by German Ambassador to Indonesia Ralf Beste.

Ambassador Beste articulated that the core message of Steinmeier's visit is to affirm Germany's position as a "strong and reliable partner for Indonesia." This engagement is driven by Germany's aspiration to enhance its partnership with significant developing nations like Indonesia, which holds strategic importance for Germany within the Southeast Asian region.

During his visit, President Steinmeier is scheduled to hold discussions with Indonesian President Prabowo. Beyond official meetings, his itinerary includes visits to the Istiqlal Mosque and the Jakarta Cathedral, notably crossing the Tunnel of Friendship that connects these two prominent places of worship. He will also convene with Indonesian intellectuals and researchers to discuss Indonesia's perspective on current global geopolitical shifts.

Accompanying President Steinmeier will be a business delegation representing diverse German sectors, including logistics, mobility, industrial equipment, as well as cultural and scientific fields.
