German Tourists Find Human Skull and Bones While Snorkeling in Lemnos

A shocking discovery was made by a German tourist couple while snorkeling in the Fanaraki sea area on the Greek island of Lemnos on Saturday afternoon. The couple stumbled upon human remains, including a skull and what appeared to be a lower limb bone, near a rocky part of the seabed.

Alerted by the find, the tourists immediately exited the water and informed the Moudros Port Authority. Responding swiftly, officials from the Port Authority, accompanied by a private diver, arrived at the scene to conduct a thorough search of the seabed and the surrounding marine area. The diver meticulously examined the area for any additional remains or evidence.

Despite the extensive search efforts, no further human remains were found beyond the initial discovery. The recovered bones were collected by the Coast Guard of Moudros and transported to the Lemnos Hospital. They are currently being held in the hospital's morgue pending the completion of necessary forensic examinations to determine their origin and identity.
