Germany faces continued heatwave with highs up to 38 degrees Celsius

Germany is bracing for another wave of intense heat, with temperatures expected to soar up to 38 degrees Celsius in the western and southwestern parts of the country before the weekend.

The German Weather Service (DWD) predicts that while the west and southwest will experience extreme heat, the northeast and the southern pre-Alpine regions will see slightly more moderate temperatures, reaching up to 31 degrees Celsius. Much of the country is expected to enjoy sunny conditions, with only isolated cloud cover and no rain anticipated for today.

Overnight, temperatures are expected to drop to between 10 and 21 degrees Celsius. However, the heat is forecast to persist into the weekend, with highs potentially exceeding 30 degrees Celsius in many areas on Saturday. The northwest is expected to be cooler, with temperatures around 22 degrees Celsius.

While the south may continue to bake, the weekend could bring a change in weather for other parts of the country. Densely clouded skies and isolated, potentially strong showers and thunderstorms are predicted from the west to the north.
