Germany Faces Mixed Weather with Rain and Thunderstorms

Germany is set for a week of unsettled weather as the new week begins with a mix of sunshine, clouds, and rain. After a bright start on Monday, cloud cover is expected to increase from the west, with only the southeast potentially retaining sunshine into the evening.

Scattered thunderstorms, some of which could be strong, are forecast for the western parts of the country and the Alps on Monday afternoon and evening. Temperatures will show regional differences, reaching 24 to 28 degrees Celsius in the southeast, while the northwest will be cooler, between 20 and 25 degrees.

Looking ahead, Tuesday night will bring rain showers moving across the country from west to east, with the possibility of heavier rainfall and thunderstorms. Overnight lows are expected to range from 7 to 16 degrees Celsius. Tuesday itself may feature isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds, particularly in the northwest, with rain showers expected in many areas. Southern Germany could experience more persistent rain. Temperatures will drop, with highs between 15 and 20 degrees, though the east might reach up to 22 degrees.

The changeable weather pattern is expected to continue into midweek. Wednesday night will see rain in the south of the Danube and along the North Sea coast, with isolated thunderstorms possible. Elsewhere, skies are expected to clear, with temperatures falling to between 5 and 11 degrees. Daytime on Wednesday will bring intermittent showers and brief thunderstorms under partly cloudy skies, with temperatures ranging from 15 to 21 degrees. The German Weather Service (DWD) has warned of potentially gusty winds accompanying showers and thunderstorms.
