Germany is the priority for direct flights, Kyrgyz prime minister says

Germany has emerged as Kyrgyzstan’s leading candidate for a new direct air connection with Europe. Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev made the statement at a meeting of the Kyrgyz-German Business Council in Cholpon-Ata.

“We are currently considering opening direct flights to Europe, and Germany is the priority destination,” Kasymaliev said. He also noted that Kyrgyzstan had been removed from the European Union’s aviation safety blacklist in June.

The prime minister identified the startup ecosystem and information technology sector as other promising areas for cooperation. He proposed using the Kyrgyz High Technology Park to establish a joint working group and launch a pilot intake of startups in 2027. The strongest solutions could later be introduced at Kyrgyz enterprises and promoted across Central Asian markets.

Reinhold Krammel, co-chair of the business council and Kyrgyzstan’s honorary consul in Bavaria and Thuringia, highlighted Kyrgyzstan’s growing role internationally and the importance of expanding cooperation with European partners. He emphasized support for small and medium-sized businesses, saying Germany had substantial experience in the field and was ready to share it with Kyrgyz partners. Participants also discussed sustainable winter tourism in the Issyk-Kul region, startup support, and information technology.
