Germany's largest military project in Lithuania enters second construction phase

Construction is advancing rapidly at the Rūdninkai military town in Lithuania as the second phase of development begins, paving the way for the arrival of German troops. The first soldiers from a German brigade are slated to occupy the new facilities by autumn, according to Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas. The construction pace has reportedly exceeded initial projections.

Officials from the German Ministry of Defense expressed their satisfaction with the progress and the reception in Lithuania. A state secretary from the ministry stated, "We certainly feel welcome," and praised Lithuania's capabilities in preparing to host their soldiers. The ongoing development is a significant step in bolstering NATO's presence in the region.

This initiative is part of a broader project aimed at strengthening societal resilience against disinformation, specifically focusing on the integration of a NATO brigade in Lithuania. The project receives partial funding from the German Federal Foreign Office's "Resilience Initiative," channeled through the German Embassy in Lithuania.
