A new rapid transit corridor is set to significantly cut travel time between Ghaziabad and the upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar, potentially reducing the journey to just 40 to 50 minutes. This ambitious regional rapid transit project has now advanced to the Detailed Project Report (DPR) stage, a crucial milestone.

NCRTC Managing Director Shalabh Goel confirmed that the Ghaziabad-Jewar corridor, along with the Noida-Faridabad-Gurgaon corridors, are currently undergoing DPR preparation. Once operational, the corridor's trains will be capable of reaching a maximum speed of 180 kmph, offering a much faster alternative to current road travel.

The proposed route will commence in Ghaziabad and traverse through Noida, Greater Noida, and the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) City before concluding at Noida International Airport. The alignment is designed to enhance connectivity across the rapidly developing residential, commercial, and industrial hubs within the National Capital Region (NCR).

The corridor is planned to include 12 stations, including key locations like Ghaziabad, Greater Noida West, Pari Chowk, and Jewar Airport. It will also feature two depots for train operations. Importantly, the project aims for seamless integration with the existing public transport system. The Pari Chowk station will serve as an interchange with the Noida Metro's Aqua Line, and the YEIDA Central-Sector 21 station will connect towards the Noida Film City. Commuters from Delhi can access the corridor via the Delhi Metro's Red Line at the Ghaziabad Namo Bharat station.

While awaiting final approvals, preparatory work has already commenced. This includes geotechnical investigations and utility mapping, along with the necessary shifting or modification of infrastructure like Extra High Tension (EHT) lines and water pipelines. These measures are intended to streamline the construction process and minimize potential delays.

Ghaziabad-Jewar and Noida-Faridabad-Gurgaon corridors are in the DPR stage as of now.
