Gia Lai welcomes 513,000 holiday visitors and records 985 billion dong in tourism revenue

Gia Lai welcomed more than 513,000 tourists during Vietnam’s five-day National Day holiday, bringing in an estimated 985 billion dong in tourism revenue.

The provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said visitor numbers and tourism income both increased by nearly 50 percent from the same holiday period last year. Of the total, 127,000 visitors stayed overnight, while 386,000 visited tourist sites without staying.

Average hotel occupancy in destinations in the eastern part of the province reached 70% to 75%. Some hotels and accommodation providers in central Quy Nhon and along Xuân Diệu and An Dương Vương streets recorded occupancy of 85% to 95%, particularly on Aug. 30 and 31. In the western area, average occupancy stood at about 50%, although some central properties reached around 80%.

Visitors concentrated on coastal and island destinations, including Kỳ Co, Eo Gió, Nhơn Lý, Nhơn Hải, Nhơn Châu Island, Ghềnh Ráng-Tiên Sa, Quy Nhon’s beaches and Cát Tiến. In the west, popular locations included Biển Hồ, Đại Đoàn Kết Square, the Pleiku Museum, Chư Đang Ya volcano and community-based tourism sites.

Popular itineraries included the provincial museum, Đôi Towers, local souvenir and specialty shops, and Quy Nhon night market. Other favored routes covered Thị Nại Lagoon, Thầy Bói Tower and Hải Minh fishing village, along with beach tours, science tourism, cultural and historical sites, Quang Trung Museum, Cham Towers, Pleiku Museum and Làng Sông Church.
