Gigi Becali ready to let Octavian Popescu leave FCSB for CFR Cluj

Gigi Becali has given Marius Șumudică the answer he wanted: Octavian Popescu could leave FCSB immediately on loan to CFR Cluj.

Șumudică said he wanted to bring the player to CFR until the end of the season. He praised Popescu’s start to the campaign but said he did not know what had happened to him afterward. “I would take Tavi Popescu tomorrow,” Șumudică said, proposing a loan until the summer and adding that they could then see how the player returned.

The possibility of a departure quickly reached Becali, the owner of the Romanian champions. Asked about Șumudică’s interest, he responded in characteristically direct terms: “Yes, I’ll give him to him! I’ll give him to him and that’s it. Tomorrow I’ll give him to him and that’s it!”

FCSB have already added Meriton Korenica, Denis Drăguș and Karlo Muhar during the transfer period. Popescu could now become one of the club’s departures.
