Gillamoos Festival: Schulze Calls for a Joint Fight for Democracy and Freedom

Katharina Schulze used her appearance at the Gillamoos festival to promise support for minorities in Saxony-Anhalt after the AfD’s election victory.

“I can assure you that I will do everything in my power to stand up against the AfD’s enemies of democracy and humanity,” the Bavarian Green parliamentary group leader said in Abensberg. She added that her party would do the same.

Schulze said she was worried about people in Saxony-Anhalt who now had fears and concerns. She specifically mentioned people with migrant backgrounds, artists, and associations campaigning for environmental protection, women’s rights and human rights.

She described the Greens’ result in the state election as “truly phenomenal,” although she said the overall result was alarming. The party won about 9%, its best result in Saxony-Anhalt. Green speakers were greeted with cheers and applause by about 300 people in a festival wine tent.
