Girl dies from burns after gas tank explosion in San Francisco de Macorís

A one-year-old girl has died from severe burns sustained in a gas tank explosion at a food stall in San Francisco de Macorís, Dominican Republic. The child, identified as Adara Ángeles, had been receiving medical attention at the Dra. Thelma Rosario Children's Burn Center in Santiago following the incident on Sunday.

Medical reports indicate the girl suffered burns covering 30% of her body surface and a critical inhalation injury. She required mechanical ventilation and continuous monitoring in the intensive care unit before her passing. Her death marks the second fatality resulting from the explosion at the San Francisco de Macorís eatery.

In a glimmer of hope, a 13-year-old boy injured in the same blast has been discharged from the burn center and will continue his recovery at home. In total, nine people, including three minors and six adults, were affected by the explosion. Three adults were transferred to a specialized burn center in Santo Domingo, while the others are receiving care locally.
