Girls in ICT Campaign Urges Gender Support for Digital Future

The International Girls in ICT Day, organized by eBusiness Life Communication, convened under the theme 'AI for Development: Girls Shaping the Digital Future.' The event underscored the critical need for societal support to ensure young girls actively participate in the growth, development, and utilization of ICTs, thereby addressing the gender disparity prevalent in the technology sector.

Serving as a strategic platform, the event focused on inspiring, mentoring, and empowering young girls to engage proactively in the rapidly evolving digital economy. Mrs. Ufuoma Emuophedaro, the convener and Chief Executive Officer of e-Business Life Communication Limited, emphasized in her welcome address the transformative potential of women and girls in technology. She highlighted the urgent necessity to dismantle existing barriers that limit female participation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields.

Emuophedaro pointed to the widening global ICT skills gap, stressing that equipping girls with digital competencies is fundamental for socio-economic development, fostering innovation, and ensuring inclusive growth. She noted that the annual International Girls in ICT Day celebration has evolved into a significant platform for encouraging young girls to pursue careers in technology and digital innovation.
